Letter to Customers: COVID-19

To our Valued Customers, update March 25, 2020:

Thank you very much for your patronage and continued support of our products and refining services.

Due to Covid 19 currently plaguing most countries, it is expected that production and shipment delays will be inevitable for semi finished products as well as possible delays in refining settlements.  During this time and until further notice, we will be unable to guarantee product deliveries as per our standard delivery schedules and refining settlements as contracted.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We will work hard and endeavor to deliver your order as soon as possible and settle your refining scrap on time, while keeping an eye on the impact of the new coronavirus infection.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

To Our Valued Customer, update March 24, 2020:

The Ontario Government has issued a mandate yesterday, March 23, 2020 to close non essential business. A list of essential services was published late last night.

Umicore business is part of the essential business and will remain open.

In order to conform with physical distancing, customer pickups and drops off’s will not be allowed and must be done by courier only.  Please contact our Umicore Customer Service Team at 1-800-263-1669 for more details.

We are committed to servicing our customers and will post updates as they become available.

To Our Valued Customer, update March 20, 2020:

Umicore Precious Metals Canada Inc and Umicore Precious Metals USA Inc. are committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for our employees and helping our customers to do the same during this challenging time.

Umicore is taking the necessary hygiene and organizational precautions in order to limit contamination and ensure business continuity. These include but are not limited to:

  • Screening of visitors/contractors prior to entering our premises;
  • Identifying high risk scenarios;
  • All business travels are now suspended until further notice;
  • Internal meetings are limited to 5 participants;
  • 14 day quarantine of employees from vacation or business travelling outside their home country;

Currently, no infected employees are confirmed at our site and our plant and offices are operating normally. No interruption of supply or raw materials has been reported. All deliveries and customer refining settlements are proceeding as planned. Operations are running in normal status.

A group of internal experts from every function in both Europe and North America are continuously monitoring the situation and will act accordingly as the situation evolves. If there are significant changes, we will inform you again through another letter message.
